Student Jobs, Finding College Employment

Posted by Farm Town Tips at 1:06 PM 0 comments

It is often useful to look for on campus jobs when searching for employment. Usually there is an office on campus which gives students jobs with flexible scheduling for college students. Some other ideas might also be:

  • The classifieds in the area (campus and city)
  • Craigslist.com of your local city
  • Make a list of the companies you wish to work for, call them ask if they are hiring
  • Ask around to your friends and family if they know of any openings
  • Temporary agencies and unemployment offices

When it comes down to it, there are tons of jobs out there. What it boils down to is the question of "do you want to do the job?" While many of us could easily get a job somewhere we find unfulfilling, that isn't where we want to be so we don't take the job.

I would recommend that if you are without a job for a while to take the first job you can find, and then work your way up from there. There is no use sitting around being unemployed, accumulating debt and feeling sorry for yourself. Go out there and get a job you can live with doing for the short term, and work your way up the food chain. The experience will look good for your next interview and you may gain some important insight from doing it. Many jobs are not looking for someone with the most experience, but the person with the behavioral characteristics to succeed no matter what job they are doing.
